Pagan Christianity

My father-in-law gave me a couple books to read. Last night I started Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola.

Fascinating.

I'd share a snippet, but I need to run to the grocery store becuase my children think they need food to survive.

Hi Gina, Had to link up with another mother of many. I am drawn to your sense of humor. I have FOUR sons. They whine for food, too. I look at them and say, "I need to feed you AGAIN?" They just smile.
My latest blog is on a book I recently readed/loved, and ask what you're reading/recommending. Can't wait to hear more!

I've read "Pagan" and thought it was insightful and right on target. It is controversial, but sometimes it's necessary to shake things up a bit when the Body of Christ has veered off course. (Think Martin Luther).

Also, when you finish "Pagan" you might want to check out the sequel, "Reimagining Church". Barna/Viola's "Pagan Christianity" wasn't a stand-alone book. This book is the constructive part of the discussion. He also has a new book that's the practical follow-up to both books. It's called "Finding Organic Church." Viola's article "Why I Love the Church" explains the motivation behind all three books. http://frankviola.wordpress.com/2009/08/18/why-i-love-the-church-in-praise-of-gods-eternal-purpose/

Jillie, I picked up my FIL's copy of REIMAGING CHURCH and was blowaway. So I mentioned to him that I'd like to read PAGAN. He just so happened to have another copy in his office; it was leftover from the case of copies that he'd bought to give away.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Patricia, I will share soon snippets from each chapter and my pastor's wife perspective. Today has been a day of playing Super Mario with my middle child. :-) Some would say it's not been a productive day, but I say it's worth it.

Mary, we need to get to know it other more.
