Ever thought about writing a book?

I did. When I was in sixth grade! I'd graduated from reading Nancy Drew mysteries and the Black Stallion saga to Victoria Holt, Janette Oke, and Douglas Adams. My first manuscript (handwritten, of course) featured twins separated at birth, an unjust murder, secret identities, secret baby, secret loves, lost loves, swashbuckling rooftop fights, and a heroine single mom masquerading as a European countess unbeknownst to her duke husband who believed she was dead except she had to fake her death because whoever killed her twin sister now wanted her dead, too. My story idea was a tale like no other.

If only I hadn't stopped writing on page 2.

After a short-lived journalistic career (Ignore anyone who says it's not possible to combine Geronimo and ketchup in the same public service announcement), I married a youth pastor who grew up in the same town as I did yet we didn't meet until after we'd both graduated college. Yay for Baptist Collegiate Ministries! After eleven years in the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia, we moved with our five children back to Oklahoma to be closer to their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I am a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum and a founding member of the Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club. I'm also a graduate of the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Pahrump, Nevada.

Needless to say, I love Corvettes! And my husband! So much so that in August 2017, I traveled with him to a Corvette show in Oregon. 1900 miles there and 1900 miles back. Our trip took us through eight states: Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, and  with a quick hop across the river just so I could say I'd  been in Washington. Our C7 Grand Sport, Tribute, won six trophies at Corvettes in the Park . . . all because I cleaned the inside of the wheel wells. Be impressed. I am.

When I'm not at a Corvette show or on a car cruise or watching . . . umm, helping the husband clean Tribute, I'm doing Mom stuff. We have five beautiful, funny, and slightly weird children (ages 24 to 10) who know what they say is fodder for a Facebook post which is probably why they say what they do. Orphan Polly in my ECPA-bestselling anthology, Mistletoe Memories, is a compilation of my three girls. Inspiration for the ending of my Christmas novella, Love's First Light, came from the surprise wedding of my father-in-law and step-mother-in-law.

My hope is, through my stories, you will see and find joy. Have fun! Laugh! Enjoy life! I loves to connect with readers. I welcome your questions and comments. You can drop me a line here or check out my Contact page for other ways to connect.

Don’t mourn or weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the Lord your God . . . Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared.

This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for

the joy of the Lord is your strength!

~Nehemiah 8:9-10

The first step in pursuing joy is to simply begin now. This day, with all its shortcomings, is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. For if we do not rejoice today, we will not rejoice at all.
